Batchly's register includes gift cards, bar tabs, a sales tax engine, cash drawer and shift close, staff roles with an audit log, a customer-facing display, ID checks on age-restricted items, optional tips, reports that show the card fee you kept, and refunds with restock. All of it is in the $99/mo plan.
Sell a gift card at the counter and hand the customer the code, or text or email it to them. Look any card up by code, read the balance, reload it, redeem it against a sale, or void it. The Gift Cards tab lists every card with the total outstanding, so you always know what you owe. Each redemption takes the balance down and writes the ledger in one step, so two registers can't spend the same dollar twice. During free migration our team loads existing balances when your current system can export them.
Open a tab under a name, add drinks from your inventory as the night goes, and close it as one sale when the customer is ready. A tip goes on at close, and the tab settles as one cash sale. Open tabs live in their own list and the running total saves as you go, so a register refresh never loses a round. There is no card hold on open; the tab is a running check that settles once.
Set your store's rate once and mark which products are taxable in Inventory. The register computes tax per item at checkout and prints it on the receipt under the label you choose. Shops that post round numbers can flag prices as already including tax, and Batchly back-computes the tax inside them. Rates change; update the number and the next sale uses it. In reports, tax collected is set aside as its own line before net, so the number you remit is never mixed into what you kept.
# items Cold brew ×2 $9.00 Pastry $4.25 Tote bag (non-taxable) $18.00 ---- Subtotal $31.25 Sales Tax 8.25% on $13.25 $1.09 Tip (to staff) $2.00 ---- Card price $34.34 # the cash price prints alongside it when the card fee is passed to the customer
Open a shift with a starting float and who's on. Cash sales accrue against it through the day. At close, count the drawer; Batchly compares the count to the float plus cash sales, shows over or short, and files the session with who opened it, the count and the variance. The variance is computed on the server, not the tablet. A no-sale drawer open asks for a reason and lands in the log. If the internet is down at close, the count is saved and reconciles when you're back online.
Three roles at the register: owner, manager and staff, plus a Driver role for delivery. Staff ring sales; refunds and voids need a manager or owner. The owner clocks staff in and out from the Team tab, records declared tips at clock-out, and shifts total their hours for payroll. Every sale is stamped on the server with who rang it, and that stamp can't be rewritten later. Refunds, voids and no-sale drawer opens write to an audit log the register can read but never edit or delete.

Any spare tablet signed into your store becomes the customer-facing screen. It shows the posted card price first, with the cash price and the savings under it, and follows the register live as items are added. It is also where the tip screen appears and where a customer can join your text list. The tablet stores nothing; it listens on a private channel scoped to your store, so a display in one shop can never see another's sale.
Age-restricted items trigger a birthday check before the sale rings. Staff scan the barcode on a driver's license, the register reads the date of birth, confirms the customer is of age, and flags an expired ID, so a new cashier isn't doing date math in their head with a line building. Every check is logged on the sale. New hire on a Friday night? The register won't let them skip it. It is a cashier aid, not a legal guarantee; confirm your state's ID and record-keeping rules.
Tips are off until you turn them on. When they're on, the tip screen appears on the customer display, or on the register for counters without one, before the card is charged: percentages, amounts and No tip. The customer picks and the terminal charges one tip-inclusive amount, with no adjust step afterward. Tips are figured on the pre-tax subtotal, the processing fee stays on the pre-tip amount, and tips ride apart from sales: their own receipt line, their own export column, and a liability rather than income in QuickBooks.
Sales by day and by product, over the last 7 or 30 days, with a CSV export. The financial report is a waterfall from gross collected down to net kept: refunds, sales tax set aside, tips to staff, and card processing fees, each its own line. Under it is the line other registers can't print: how much of the processing fee your customers covered through dual pricing. Run memberships and the Memberships tab adds monthly recurring revenue by plan, revenue at risk, and the dollars recovered by retrying failed payments.
Refund a sale from its record, in full or in part. A full refund restocks the item by default; a partial one leaves the count alone unless you say so. A same-day full reversal tries a void first, so the charge never settles; otherwise the money goes back through the gateway, tied to the original transaction. Refunds and voids need a manager, and each one writes to the audit log. Receipts print at the sale or later from its record, with the tax label and the tip line on them.

Sell a card at the counter and hand over a 16-character code, or text or email it. Look any card up by code to read the balance, reload, redeem or void it; the Gift Cards tab totals what is still outstanding, and during free migration our team loads existing balances when your old system can export them.

Open a tab under a name, add rounds from the same inventory the register sells from, and close it as one cash sale at the register. There is no card hold on open, the tip goes on at close, and the running total saves as you go.
At close, Batchly compares the count to the opening float plus cash sales, computed on the server, and files the session with who opened it, the count and the variance. No-sale opens ask for a reason and land in the audit log.
Staff ring sales. Refunds and voids need a manager or owner, and each one writes to an append-only audit log. The seller on every sale is stamped by the server from the login, so it can't be spoofed.
