A customer texts your store number. Front Desk reads the request against live inventory, confirms the items and a pickup window, and drops the order into a queue at the counter. Your team pulls the items, applies the labels your state requires, and bags the order with the customer's name on it. The customer walks past the line to a shelf with their name on a bag.

A front desk that never puts a customer on hold

Front Desk, part of Shophand, Batchly's optional AI staff, is an AI staffer on your store phone. It answers around the clock, quotes hours and directions, checks is-it-in questions against the shelf, and takes pickup orders on calls as well as texts. Every conversation leaves a transcript you can read the next morning. Your people stay with the customer standing at the counter, and the phone still gets answered on the second ring at 9 p.m.

Inventory that runs the menu

Batchly inventory is sized for the real shop: about 100 SKUs, of which roughly 20 core items drive most of the volume. Live stock counts move as sales ring. Low-stock alerts fire on velocity, so the fast movers flag early instead of after the shelf goes bare. Reorder suggestions queue up for a human to approve, purchase orders keep the paper trail straight, and count discipline is part of the closing routine.

Here is the part that matters for ordering: the menu customers text-order from is the live inventory. Not a copy, not a nightly sync. When the last unit of a core item sells, it comes off the menu that second, so nothing sells that is not on the shelf and nobody drives over for a bag you cannot fill.

• Metrc. Batchly is Metrc-connected. It reports each sale to Metrc as a sales receipt with the package tag, depletes the package, retries from a durable outbox, and runs a reconcile pass that checks package counts against Metrc and flags any sale report that did not land. Batchly holds production Metrc API access in Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois, and we set Metrc up with you.
• Purchase-limit counters. Per-customer limits computed at the register are on the roadmap; today every sale is itemized and server-stamped so a limit question has an answer.

Metrc states. Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois run on Metrc; Batchly holds production Metrc API access in all three and reports each sale as a Metrc sales receipt with the package tag. Arizona mandates no statewide seed-to-sale system, so a licensed Arizona shop runs the same register with no integration in the path. The rates and rules on the cards are as of September 2026, with the regulator sources on the Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois pages; the Arizona page says what to confirm with AZDHS.
